May 8 - Update

Hey, wanted to give an update on the garden.  To state the obvious, but with enthusiasm: it's Growing!   We have an abundance of renegade marigolds and tomato plants coming up from a previous season in one area.  Kudos to heirloom tomatoes!   I think there's a random basil plant growing too.  I have to be careful when I pull weeds to make sure it's not something unexpected coming up.  There's also an abundance of oak helicopters starting to sprout, I've been trying to yank them out.

There is an eggplant and a cucumber plant that we put in the ground before it had sprouted, and they seem not to be growing.  We might have to grab some from the store if after I get back from my trip they still aren't up.  Yellow squash, spaghetti squash, and butternut all look strong and healthy.

Lettuce is already the size of a thumbnail.  Peas are good.

In the next few weeks we'll need to come up with something for tomato trellises. I have some at the house I can use, since I don't have tomatoes in my own garden this year.  We'll figure something out.

Rain this weekend will take care of the water situation while I'm away.  Thank you Christy for letting us use your spicket.  It's much easier than carrying water across the street.

Pictures soon enough.  Possibly we can make plans for next weekend when I'm back to build stuff...trellises or whatever else.  There's always something in need in the garden.
